VISA Check Card

It is like a check that members can use to pay for their purchases anywhere VISA debit cards are accepted. The purchase amount is deducted from your share draft (checking) account automatically from available funds. It is easier to carry than a checkbook and faster than writing a check. Some merchants will allow you to obtain cash with your purchase, at no extra cost.

It is an ATM card that provides you the convenience of obtaining cash from any ATM displaying the VISA logo.

If you use an American Savings Bank, Hawaii, to obtain your cash, you do not pay the bank’s surcharge. If you use any other machine, the bank’s surcharge will apply. The credit union will access a fee of $0.50 for each ATM withdrawal and for each ATM balance inquiry if you do not maintain an average balance of $300. Refer to the fee schedule for additional information.

Consumer concerns regarding the safety and protection is the number one reason consumers do not make purchases online. VISA created a new service called “Verified by VISA”.

This service allows consumers to add a personal password to their existing VISA card to ensure that only they can use their card online. When members use the security service to make purchases at participating merchants, they key in the password to validate their identity. By using this service, a member can help prevent unauthorized purchases before they happen.

To sign up for this valuable service, click on the link to the right or go to www.visa.com/verified. Enter your debit card number and follow the instructions for verifying your identity. Once you pass the authentication process, you will be able to establish a password and hints to help you remember the password.

After registration, the Verified by VISA is available immediately. You will be able to shop at participating merchants with confidence that your debit card account is being protected for online transactions.
